Kanye West is about to record a new album with Chance the Rapper
By now, the most of us got used to Kanye West being an unpredictable force of nature on the rap scene. Nothing, not even a surge of new transgender dating sites can shake the Internet as much as any news related directly or indirectly to Yeezy.
This time, the main story surrounding Kim Kardashian’s husband and music mogul revolves around him being on the verge of recording a new album with none other than Chance the Rapper. This is not exactly the freshest of news, but considering that this album could hit us any day now, it might be worthwhile taking a look at everything we know so far.
Taking a Chance
Although pretty much everyone in the world knows who Kanye West is, Chance the Rapper’s audience isn’t exactly that big. Nevertheless, these two have got together earlier this year and have come to a conclusion as to what Chance’s next steps should be.
That’s why the young rapper stated back in March that after speaking to West he decided not only to start working on a project with Donald Glover, a.k.a. Childish Gambino, but also that he should do a 7-track album with Kanye.
This didn’t really come as a surprise to anyone. First of all, Childish Gambino said in fall last year that he and Chance actually had quite a session in Atlanta and that he felt like he was going to get his butt kicked by a bunch of 14-year-olds if he didn’t record an album with Chance the Rapper.
Furthermore, it’s a well-known fact that Chance and Kanye are collaborating for quite some time now (and even back in March), so their mutual album is something everyone has been expecting for a while.
Interestingly enough, Kanye has been on a roll with seven-track albums since last year. From May 2017 until now, West has produced no less than five consecutive albums that consist of 7 tracks: Daytona by Pusha T, NASIR by Nas, K.T.S.E. by Teyana Taylor and more.
What to Expect
There’s no point trying to deny Kanye’s brilliance when it comes to structuring albums and creating music – he may be a bit weird and he may even have a bit of a God-complex in person, but professionally, there are only a few people that can stand toe-to-toe with this music giant.
Still, this hasn’t stopped some people from claiming that the 7-tracks format is somewhat succinct. Pusha T, who was among the first to publish such an abbreviated album format with Kanye, stated the following during a Beats 1 Radio interview: “Man, if we can’t kill you in seven songs, we don’t really need to be doing the music.”
In June 2018, Chance the Rapper stated that he is in “dry eraseboard mode” and that he’s more than ready to collaborate with Kanye on a new seven-tracker. All things considered, it’s probably going to be lit – it’s just that we don’t have the slightest idea as to when it will come out.
