Your skin begins to age when the body begins reducing the amount of collagen it produces. This happens earlier than you might think, around age 25. Fortunately, there are many ways to keep your skin soft and supple and your face looking young. Here are three ways to look younger longer.
Apply Some Makeup
Makeup really can work wonders. The trick to using makeup to achieve a youthful look is to use some, but not too much. Over-doing it can have the opposite effect. This is especially true when it comes to foundation, contouring, blush, and powder. These products should be used lightly, with a fresh, soft look as your goal. Additionally, beauty experts warn against the use of dark eye shadow, which tends to bleed and emphasize fine lines. Furthermore, a full brow look is great, but overdrawn, too-dark brows are aging. Use a light hand to fill your brows with a soft brown brow pencil. Finally, to get a plumper lip, lightly overdraw your lips with a shade that matches your lip color, then fill them in with a light lipstick or gloss.
Follow Basic Skincare Routines
Your skincare routine shouldn’t take hours, but it is critical. At the most basic level, use a gentle face cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen every day. Build the habits of never going to bed without cleansing and moisturizing your face, and never leaving the house without applying a full-spectrum facial sunscreen. You should include exfoliation into your weekly regime. Exfoliating helps you get rid of dead skin on the outer layer.
Keep in mind, however, that you build beautiful skin from the inside out. Eat a diet rich in antioxidants, vitamin C, sulforaphane (found in cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli and kale), and omega 3 fatty acids. You guessed it, these compounds are primarily found in fruits, vegetables, nuts, fish, and even dark chocolate. Finally, stay hydrated. Water is your skin’s best friend.
Get Your Hair Cut
Believe it or not, but your hair can change the age you appear by multiple decades. Aging cuts include the feathered bang, the close crop, short spikes, the blunt bob with bangs, short curls, wispy bangs, super-short pixies, and short pin-up curls. On the other hand, you can choose a cut that will take years off. These include a longer pixie cut, a pixie bob, a layered bob, long waves, a messy bob, beach waves, and long hair with a shorter layer in front.
Keep your face looking young and fresh for decades with these simple tips! With very little money and almost no time, you can take years off your look.
