Innovative technology and the ingenious minds of industry professionals have produced many varieties of self tanning products, but it looks like there’s a new texture on the scene ready to take the crown.
Forget about gels, creams, mousses, lotions, foams or even made-to-measure drops because tanning waters deliver hassle-free and amazing.
What is tanning water?
A tanning water is a clear spray formulated from water, vitamins and dihydroxyacetone. It is a gradual tanner and, once applied, optimal results are achieved over a few hours leaving you with a beautiful sun-kissed glow. Tanning waters are not area specific and can be used on the face and body.
What makes tanning water stand out versus tanning lotion, gel or mousse?
Tanning water is clear and has a lighter texture than the competition, but it also delivers more moisture to the skin.
Tanning expert and founder of the new tanning brand Isle of Paradise, Jules Von Hep explains, “Tanning waters are the most hydrating tan possible, we are quite literally giving our skin a drink.”
Isle of Paradise is the first tanning campaign to feature a plus-size model.
How is tanning water applied?
- Preparation is key for a gorgeous glow. Jules recommends, “Shave or wax at least 24 hours prior to application and ensure skin is exfoliated with a dry brush or scrub. This means your skin will have an even surface, so the final result will be even and, more importantly, it will fade evenly like a natural tan would.”
Remember to remove any deodorant or makeup before use. Refrain from using cleansing oil as it acts as a barrier to the tan’s penetration, says Jules.
- Be liberal in your application of tanning water. “Your skin should be saturated once finished. Once applied take an applicator mitt and sweep the product all over the skin to blend, remembering to do under the arms and all over your legs”, says Jules.
- Spritz your face with tanning water, similarly to a normal face mist, and lightly blend for a golden complexion.
How long do tanning waters last on the skin?
On average, tanning water will last 5 to 6 days, according to Jules. It depending on your lifestyle. “Some of us shower twice a day, some of us swim – there are different factors that will make any tan last on the skin.”
Be sure to moisturize often as it will help prolong your color longer.
